PATOLOGÍA INTERSTICIAL PULMONAR ASOCIADA AL TABACO:: ¿Hay vida más allá del cáncer de pulmón?
Resumen
Objetivos Docentes
- Presentar las principales patologías intersticiales pulmonares asociadas al tabaco.
- Plantear su diagnóstico diferencial en función de los hallazgos radiológicos, así como con otras entidades similares no asociadas al tabaquismo.
- Esclarecer otros puntos importantes como su etiología y tratamiento.

Introducción
En torno al 27% de la población mayor de 16 años es fumadora en nuestro país. El tabaco y la patología asociada al mismo suponen un alto coste para el sistema sanitario en prevención y tratamiento, así como para el Gobierno, debido a la falta de productividad asociada.
Una serie de complejos procesos inflamatorios y cambios en el sistema inmune del sujeto son cruciales para la patogénesis de enfermedades asociadas al tabaquismo, como en los casos de EPOC, enfisema, cáncer de pulmón o ateroesclerosis.
